Re-Membering

Remembering:

In the busyness of life, it can be hard to slow down. I find myself in a constant state of trying to keep up. I yearn for times past when life was simpler, when as a child, I could just fall asleep in the middle of the day on the soft grass and know nothing more than that very moment. We all long for that childlike joy and innocence. The process of rediscovering that this world still exists within you is the journey of remembering.

The word ‘remember’ comes from two Latin words, re-meaning ‘back’ and reminisce meaning ‘to think about’. So ‘remember’ means to think back. To re-member is to put the pieces back together again. It is reclaiming your innocence that has been scattered by life and its responsibilities.

The journey of re-membering begins by first recognizing the need for it - taking a step back and reflecting on what needs healing or revisiting in your life what will bring you peace of mind. What memories do you have that give you a sense of joy? Is there something missing in your life that you can fill with the knowledge gained from these memories? When you take time to explore these questions, you can begin to understand how the experiences from your past shape who you are today and what changes you can make moving forward.

Once you identify what those steps look like, it’s important to create an environment where you can honor this process. Nature provides an inviting space where you can connect with yourself on a deeper level and meditate on your journey ahead. Listen to the birds singing; take in the smell of fresh grass; feel the sun warming your skin - these are all reminders that mother earth is here to support you as you embark on this spiritual path of remembering your true self.

Re-membering is essential in order to break old patterns that are no longer useful and to make room for new ones that will bring grace and peace into your life. Engaging in self-reflection, recognizing what needs releasing within yourself, creating an environment conducive to growth, connecting with nature and its divine energy, and remembering why things were so simple in times less complex - these are all steps towards putting the pieces back together and living your most authentic life possible.

Take some time today to sit outside in nature - let yourself be still and allow yourself to remember who you truly are,
